Privacy Policy

• Your username — the inbox name you pick, so messages reach your link.
• Messages — the text senders write (up to 300 characters) and when they were sent.
• Sender hints — the country a message was sent from and the sender's device and browser, derived from their connection and browser settings. These stay locked until the inbox owner pays R35 to view them.
• Unlock status — which messages' hints have been unlocked.

Senders provide no name, email address or phone number, and we don't log senders' IP addresses or email addresses. We use no advertising or tracking cookies. You don't sign up for an account and we never ask for a password.

Your username is saved in your browser's local storage so you can return to your inbox. Clearing your browser data removes it — keep a note of your username somewhere safe.

Hint unlocks are processed by Paystack, our payment provider. Your card details go straight to Paystack under its own privacy policy; we never receive or store them. We only record whether a message's hint was unlocked.

To deliver messages to the right inbox, show your inbox to you, provide unlocked sender hints, and prevent abuse. We don't sell personal information, and we don't use your data to advertise to you.

Messages stay in your inbox while it exists. You can ask us to delete your inbox and every message in it at any time — see Contact below.

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, object to how it's processed, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

WhisperLink isn't directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we'll remove their data.
